Welcome to Fat Sal's Deli, a true gem nestled in the heart of Los Angeles at 1154 Highland Ave. This vibrant sandwich shop is not just a place to grab a bite; it's a culinary adventure, where outrageous flavor combinations meet the quintessential deli experience.

Fat Sal's specializes in a playful and hearty menu featuring their infamous Fat Sandwiches. These massive creations are built for those with a hearty appetite. Take the Fat Breakfast, a sumptuous affair filled with fried eggs, ham, crispy bacon, and even mozzarella sticks, all nestled within a butter grilled hero. Or perhaps you’d fancy the Fat Banh MiKi, a creative twist that combines sweet and spicy soy-marinated ribeye steak with vibrant Vietnamese pickled vegetables and zesty Szechuan slaw. Both sandwiches are bound to tantalize your taste buds and leave you wanting more!

No meal at Fat Sal's is complete without venturing into their extravagant shakes. Imagine indulging in the Fat Jake Shake, which throws caution to the wind by blending vanilla ice cream with a slice of pecan pie, topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. It’s not just a drink; it’s a dessert experience that dazzles the senses!

The vibrant atmosphere of Fat Sal's, characterized by an eclectic decor and a friendly vibe, perfectly complements the indulgent fare. Reviews from patrons echo a consistent theme of satisfaction—Eric Campbell mentions the "wild selection of massive sandwiches and shakes," while Peter Ladenheim, a deli aficionado from New York, exclaims that Fat Sal's is an exception to the rule for great sandwiches outside New York City.

But it’s more than just the food; it’s the spirit of the place. Customers rave about the staff's friendliness, turning a simple meal into a community experience. Mary Mercado appreciated the help from the friendly cashier, and Angie’s late-night visit was made special by the welcoming atmosphere of the staff. Fat Sal's isn’t just about eating; it’s about feeling at home in a bustling city.

So whether you're planning a late-night snack (the shop is open until the wee hours) or looking for a feast that defies the conventional, Fat Sal's Deli is your destination. Don’t just take our word for it—visit this LA wonder and see for yourself why it’s a must-try for anyone in the area. Come hungry, leave happy!

Great local sandwich shop chain. Wild selection of massive sandwiches and shakes. Must try for any visitors to LA. Staff were super friendly and the food tasted great!

First time there. The food is a little pricey. I bought a steak sandwich with onion ring, fries and mozzarella stick inside the sandwich. It was good but it could have used more meat. The service was good and the staff was friendly. The seating could use lower tables for people who are handicapped. But it was a good experience.

We were leaving Oklahoma City and someone who had moved there from LA, told us we had to come here to eat. I would have liked to have had half a sandwich - it was so much food - but it was fun and different. I had the chicken; my son had a burger. Mine was definitely a unique take on a sandwich with a LOT of flavor. The chocolate chip cookie with cake and icing inside was also super fun!

The pastrami sandwich was hot and delicious. The cashier person was really friendly and helpful with our order. It was a late night on a wednesday. when we went, and it was pretty much empty at around 9:/10: pm. But it was cold inside because the place is wide open to view the st.. We knew that the old place was burned down, and the cashier said that they were waiting to rebuild it and move back when it's done

Fat Sals always delivers! I got a Fat Texas and a pup cup for my puppers. The food was delicious and worth the late night walk. Tonight's Late night staff (9pmish) was the best! Friendly and welcoming.

Fat Sal’s is a MUST when in Los Angeles. As a New Yorker, I rarely go to a deli anywhere outside of New York because they typically don’t compare. This is the exception to the rule. I’m also not usually a fan of “fat” deli sandwiches, as they’re usually just stuffed with under-seasoned fries and lots of bland toppings. Likewise, I’m not typically a fan of “crazy” shakes, because they’re usually just adorned with frosting on the rim and are never worth the price. Once again, Fat Sal’s is the exception. Their sandwiches are stuffed to the brim with quality ingredients, well seasoned meats, properly prepared homemade sauces, they’re balanced in flavors and textures, and that means you don’t get bored eating them. Likewise with the shakes, they take AN ENTIRE PIECE of cheesecake and blend it into the shake itself. Absolutely decadent. If I’m within 2 hours of Fat Sal’s, I’m making a trip there every single time.

Visited the area and needed a big meal. Loved this place and recommend. I went with a Big Beef sandwich / wife got chicken bacon ranch. We both were extremely satisfied. Mine came a side of gravy that was great. Service was great and cool design of the place was very cool. I just wish I could go back and try some of the other options. Double thumbs up!
